Energy Suckers!

“Don’t let anyone’s negative energy drain you…PERIOD!”

Have you ever been uncomfortable with someone (people) and wondered why? Have you ever felt like you were in the wrong because you felt this way about someone (people) that everyone else seemed to love? Have you ever been somewhere and left feeling depressed or worse than when you arrived?

If you’ve said ‘yes’ to one or all of the above, please do think something is wrong with you. It’s your spirit of discernment, your intuition, your radar and, they are simply alerting you to be aware and ultimately, stay away from the energy suckers. It is our responsibility, not the offenders.


Literally, there are people that as soon as they come into your space, you are mentally and physically drained. These people are the one’s who give life to things that should not even be alive. And, if we are not careful, we will find ourselves being and acting just like them.

We have to be mindful of the energy suckers surrounding us at all times and, here are a few things that I do that may help you as well:

  1. BREATHE – Take a few deep breathes and realize that your feelings are valid. Breathing deeply is very beneficial and will help you to reset your own energy.
  2. SET BOUNDARIES – Protect yourself at all times by consciously staying away from things and people that drain your energy and who try to inject you with their negativity.
  3. PRAY & MEDITATE – The most important for me is to get re-centered by spending quality time in prayer and meditation so that I can connect with my true source. God will ultimately cover us, protect us, and shield us from those who try to harm us (directly and indirectly). He is the Great Shepherd and His energy is electric!
  4. POSITIVE SELF TALK – Every morning, I follow a daily confession that has me speak positive over myself, my day, and those who will come into my sphere of influence.
  5. PRACTICE GRATITUDE – The key to a better life and overcoming all bad energy is being grateful for what you have and where you’re at. Focusing on gratitude will help you to keep your energy in tact.
  6. FOCUS ON THE GOOD – Stop and ask yourself if the situation is even worth your time and energy.
  7. TAKE A NAP – I have found that when I need to reset or start over (at any point during the day), I take a nap! Be it a quick nap after work, or during the weekend, it is an excellent way to stop and renew your energy.
  8. BE TACTFUL – The best way to rid yourself of someone’s negative energy is to speak to them with tact and diplomacy. In other words, silence them with kindness.
