Light A Candle and Let It Shine

Light A Candle and Let It Shine

Light, Candles

One thing is for certain, we live in a world that is full of darkness, despair, tragedy and hardship. We do not have to look too long or too hard to find situations that can sadden us to our core. In many societies, the way people protect themselves from internalizing a lot of the epidemics and pandemics is to naturally become desensitized by shutting themselves off mentally. I know it personally having lived in a very large urban city that was so despondent that many people begin to justify what was happening as, “It’s all a part of life here.” Well, after many year’s of starting to think the same way, I somehow woke up and it was at that moment that I realized I had slowly adopted a mindset that was changing my overall character. That is when I decided to begin the process to move towards a better light.

As a child, I had the confidence to stand before people and sing and, one of my favorite songs was, “This little light of mine.” And, I knew all of the lyrics and would belt them out like a young Anna Mae Bullock as reflected in the classic film, What’s Love Got To Do With It? I would go on and on, “Everywhere I go, I’m going to let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.” I really believed that I could make a difference and, in my own distinct way, I most certainly did.

{Flash back} As I grew into adulthood, something shifted and I started to sing less and less about my light and focus on the darkness. The type of darkness that ruins lives, families, neighborhoods, towns, cities, states and countries. The type of darkness that if not checked and stopped can make one begin to believe that there is no hope and, “It’s all part of life.” Yes, I started to slip back into thinking that there is just too much darkness in this world and I lost sight of, “This little light!”

{Back to the present} After digging deep within myself, I have come to the realization that God really is bigger than anything that is happening and He is able to give us the strength to endure IF we keep our eyes stayed on Him. I am now focusing on the light. I am now letting my light shine. I am now helping others to see the light (inner and outer) and I am now believing that one candle can change the outlook of any darkness that arises.

Yes, I’ve decided to, “Stop cursing the darkness and light some candles!” Candles of positive thinking, encouraging words, supportive actions and wise thinking.

I would like to encourage you to light a candle and, “Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!” So, what are you willing to do to ensure that your light is shining? Tell me in the comments below ↓ as I would love to here from you.

Move Forward In Righteousness XOXO ♥
